The U.S. DOL’S Free Smartphone App…Made for Employees

Early in May this year, the U.S. Dept of Labor announced the launch of its first smartphone application. The DOL Timesheet is designed specifically for employees to track their own time. Sec. of Labor Hilda Solis stated that this will “empower workers” with an easy to use device. Employers will need extra caution to ensure employees are paid correctly and that complaints are handled correctly. Currently the Timesheet App is only available for the iPhone and iPod Touch.  It is expected that will expand to other devices.

The problems that this raises is enormous. What happens when there are discrepancies? How will this issue be handled at your company? We will try our best to keep you informed as these issues come up. As always, keeping good records of time and attendence is of critical importance for both the employer and the employee.
